News Flash—Nothing Matters but the Nukes

Gadabout doesn’t see much importance in the war in Iraq, world oil supplies, the balance of power in Washington, illegal immigration, Social Security and trade imbalances with Asia. The only, and often forgotten and neglected, player in world harmony is the threat of nuclear weapons. Yep, the E equals MC squared big boom.

The world will shift regarding oil usage. We’ll be forced to adjust our habits, like smokers are when forced outside bars and restaurants to light up. This shift will be insidious. It will occur over time, and will cause some hardships. But we adjust to hardships. We always do.

The war in Iraq? The war will find a path forward too. Sure, it is a big problem and people are dying, but people die everyday. 16,000 Americans are murdered every year. People murder people everyday. Murder is not newsworthy. Genocide has always been swept under the rug since the beginning of time. The world is always at war. Evil leaders will always find a pathway to power. Evil is always defeated in the end. The war will fizzle away. Fires always fade.

13 million illegal aliens? So what? America will deal with this issue over time. Perhaps someday, we’ll be fleeing south over the border. Ask yourself, are Mexicans truly affecting your life in a negative manner? Don’t let the pundits scare you. I fear power mongers in DC and the talking heads more than I do a Mexican putting a new roof on my house.

Social Security? Hey, we are already a socialistic society, despite the claims of the opposite. We’ll find a way to care for people that need care. Americans are good at this, because Americans are good people.

Trade imbalances? Americans are free thinkers, creative and determined. We are a wealthy nation. We like our money and lifestyles. We’ll always move forward.

Regardless of all, though, there is only one real threat that we cannot counter. That threat is a nuclear weapon. Blow up another building with a jet liner, and we’ll just build another. Blow up an oil refinery, and we’ll build another. But if we are hit with a nuke, we are truly screwed. Nukes are powerful weapons. We ended a war with Japan in a few short days with the power of nukes. The Japanese fell to their knees and we accepted their surrender. Then we rebuilt Japan. We shaped a better Japan. If a rouge nation were to nuke us, they might just decide to keep going. Think about that. We accepted Japan’s surrender, but a radical leader might just snicker and keep hitting the red button. Nothing matters more than nukes in the hands of evil. I spell evil I-R-A-N.

“House Wants Apology from Japan”

That’s the headline published by AP that was printed in many of today’s newspapers. Gadabout knows that Congress is determined to solve the world’s problems and this most recent resolution shows that Congress cares.

It is no secret that the Japanese military committed countless acts of genocide and other countless unimagional acts of aggression during their attempts at domination. If you were a service member engaged in combat with the “Japs” during WWII, you sure as hell never wanted to be captured and become a POW. Those bastards were SAVAGES! Read up on the Bataan Death March in the Philippines if you have any doubts. During that 25 mile, 3 day march, 75,000 Filipino and American POWs (12,000 Americans) were brutally handled by their Japanese captors. 10,000 Filipinos and 1,000 Americans were either executed or died of exposure along the way.

So here we are today, with Congress, the NY Times, and a disproportionate number of Americans lashing out at the President and the military establishment for our harsh treatment of Muslim Terrorists at Gitmo and other prisons in Iraq. Gadabout knows through very trusted sources that we are not SAVAGES in our treatment of these Bastards.

Dear Congress, if you demand apologies from 60 year old atrocities from Imperial Japan, how about cutting Americans a little slack in this very humane war we are fighting against evil? Get your head out of your butts and start supporting America.

Blue States Wasting all the Oil

Gadabout’s tenacious research has uncovered a hidden truth of oil consumption patterns in the USA—the Northeastern Blue States are using most of the home heating oils! There are about 107 million households in the US and 8 million of them use heating oil as a source of energy to heat their homes. 78% of these 8 million house holds are in the Northeast (all Blue States). In 2001, 5.4 billion gallons of heating oil was consumed (I am using some 2001 data since the posted distribution chart is from 2001) which is equivalent to 289,810 thousand barrels of oil in that year.

675 thousand barrels of heating oil was consumed a day in 2006. 2006 had a warmer than usual winter season, resulting in a sharp decrease in heating oil demand by roughly 25%. In 2005 the daily demand was 914 thousand barrels per day. Heating oil accounts for approximately 4.4% of all US oil consumption.

Using precious oil for heating homes has to stop immediately. If we were to reduce heating oil consumption by 50% over the next ten years, coupled with a continued increase of more efficient automobiles, the USA could easily decrease total consumption rates. This could flip the oil industry upside down.

Let me make this point absolutely clear: we should not consume heating oils in homes when other energy sources are available that cannot be used in internal combustion and jet engines. Cars cannot run on natural gas, but houses can. Cars cannot run on solely on electricity, but houses can. Cars cannot run on coal, but houses can. Airplanes cannot operate on natural gas, electricity or coal either. We need to be smarter on what we use OIL for, and heating homes with it is a waste.

The sooner we eliminate heating oils, the sooner we’ll achieve oil independence. Whether you believe it or not, we are ostensively fighting a war on terrorism, but the bigger picture is about oil. Keeping uninterrupted supplies flowing from the richly endowed Middle East is of absolute necessity for the security of the United States. And using this most precious resource for heating homes is absurd, ridicules and counter intuitive.

The pejorative use of heating oils in the United States continues to cripple our attempts at independence. It is arguable that our national attempts at conservation have been lackluster at best, but a Greening of America is underway and old habits are under fire from multiple fronts. The Northeastern Blue States need to wake up and take a critical look in the mirror and acknowledge that their consumption patterns are injurious to the entire nation.

We may not be as lucky this upcoming winter as we were last year regarding warmer weather and an attenuated demand for heating oils. If we get hit hard by dipping mercury levels, look for misery in the oil markets. It is time for Blue State Democrats to take immediate action and reduce their oil dependency.

Gadabout is searching for answers on how opponents of the war in Iraq have successfully framed an argument based upon casualties. Before we move on, please let me make crystal clear that this discussion is based on the magnitude of war deaths compared to historical conflicts, and associated degree of “worthiness” associated with said conflict. I am not going to dive into any discussion of WMDs, Al-Qaeda, Humvee armor, UN resolutions, or any other rhetoric related to congressional or executive decision making.

During the 1960’s and 70’s Gadabout was deeply embroiled with his primary and secondary education in the Detroit public school system, and within those hallowed halls of learning he was taught that the atrocities of World War II, with its millions of civilian war deaths under the fist of Hitler could never again be possible because of the new world order. We, as a nation and a world, were deeply committed to never again allow an evil dictator to upset the gentle balance of peace and be allowed to engage in genocide. Boy, was I taken for a ride! It is estimated that 60 million died during WWII; 20 million military and 40 million civilian. 5.1 million deaths are attributed to the Holocaust. These numbers are debatable, but the degree of magnitude is what is important here.

Estimates on deaths related to the war on terrorism (primarily for Afghanistan and Iraq) are a bit tricky and smarter people than me are compiling the data, but the high side is around 1 million total deaths. The numbers that are concrete is the total coalition death count, which is roughly 3,700. But let’s not forget the 2,974 murders that occurred on September 11th. I’ll take a moment to inform the readership that nearly 3,000 murders is, in my opinion, reason enough to take the fight oversees and destroy those Islamic bastards who believe they can commit unchecked genocide on American soil.

Saddam Hussein killed up to 200,000 Kurds in the 1980’s. In 1994, the Rwandan Genocide between Hutu and Tutsi resulted in over a million horrific deaths. Some estimates of the death toll in Darfur exceed 400,000. These are just a handful of examples of genocide in our day. Americans are only informed on events in Darfur by a few television commercials and scant reports in a handful of the largest media outlets. Yep, “we’ll never allow evil governments to commit acts of genocide ever again—we learned our lesson with Hitler.”

During the Civil War, 700,000 soldiers died to preserve a nation. During World War II, over 400,000 American soldiers died to contain Japan and Germany (Germany never attacked the United States—should we have fought in Europe?). Over 60,000 died in Vietnam. Now, with the global balance of power in play with characters like Chavez, Ahmadinejad, and a laundry list of up and comers; atomic weapons procurement; genocide in Darfur and elsewhere, Americans are shouting for a complete withdrawal from Iraq. That would have wonderful results—regional and global destabilization and possible world war. Not a viable option, in my opinion.

More Americans died in one hour of fighting during the Battle of Shiloh than have died while defending our country overseas in our current war on terrorism. 16,000 Americans are murdered every year, and 40,000 highway fatalities occur every year in this country. These are just numbers, but numbers are often helpful in making decisions and understanding a degree of magnitude related to death and destruction, and whether a commitment of blood is worthy or not worthy. I wish we lived in a world where no Americans died in 9-11, but they did die. I pray for a day when our soldiers, marines, sailors and airman are out of harms way; but I don’t think that day is here.

Evil is lurking, and I am taking the position that Hitler was one of them and we should never allow genocide to ever flourish again. I believe our finest moment is at hand, and unfortunately the cost of success will be counted and documented with the dried ink of blood and misery. Gadabout will not sit back and chant peace, when a call for peace will cause further death and destruction. We were right to topple Saddam with our invasion, let us not label our decisions with shame.
